Access Self Storage | Storage made simple | Retail

Rebranding a national storage business by putting simplicity at the heart of every experience.

Access Self Storage is one of the UK’s top three storage brands, offering units for homes, businesses and offices. With low awareness across the sector and little difference between competitors, customers tended to shop on price. The challenge was to help Access stand apart by redefining what good service looked and felt like, simple, friendly and consistent.

Details

Insight Self storage should be straightforward, but Access had made it complex. Processes were confusing, communication inconsistent and stores felt impersonal. Through customer interviews, stakeholder workshops and mystery shopping across major competitors, we uncovered one clear truth: people wanted storage that felt safe, human and easy

Story The new brand blueprint centred on a simple belief. Into Storage. It reflected the company’s passion for what they do and their commitment to effort, engagement and simplicity. We redefined the customer journey to remove unnecessary steps, clarified the offer, and developed a tone that turned information into reassurance. The visual identity evolved, not replaced. Modernised with a rounded typestyle, simpler palette and a new three-word language system: Pack. Stack. Lock.

Engage Signage, literature and in-store graphics were redesigned around accessibility. Messaging used colour and icons to distinguish between asking, telling and wayfinding, guiding customers clearly from enquiry to move-in. Step-by-step instructions, SMS reminders and welcome packs made the experience smoother and more personal. The guidelines unified every touchpoint, from advertising to site signage, helping staff deliver a consistent, friendly brand.

Clarity Access moved from being a price-led alternative to a trusted, approachable leader. Staff confidence grew, processes simplified, and customer satisfaction improved. The brand now reflects what the business does best. Making storage simple, personal and effortless.
