How do you start to create an author brand?

Without a clear understanding of who you are as an author and why your stories matter, it’s difficult to build a lasting author brand. In this session, you will explore what makes you unique, who your readers are, and how your personal experiences shape your storytelling. Through practical exercises, creative reflection and structured thinking, you will start developing an author brand that feels authentic and meaningful.

  • What an author brand is and why it matters beyond just book sales
  • How an author’s personal story and experiences shape their brand
  • Creating an emotional connection with readers, based on your creative voice
  • Using the Brand Doughnut framework to summarise your author brand
  • Defining your vision, audience, competition, and what makes your stories unique
  • Developing a positioning statement and brand core to guide your creative and marketing decisions

Tasks include; favourite authors, defining your personal story, mapping your audience, understanding your competition, crafting your vision, and creating your positioning and brand core.
