Sheffield Gaumont (cinema history) — https://cinematreasures.org/theaters/14805 — context: referenced for Nigel's own childhood cinema-going memory, not a general cinema-history reference

The cinema itself doesn't exist any more. I watched Star Wars there in 1977, seven years old, a C-3PO mask over my face, the Star Destroyer rumbling overhead on a screen that size, the shared gasp in the cinema when Vader first appeared. The Sheffield Gaumont was demolished not long after, and a twin replacement Odeon opened on the same site in 1987, closing again in 1994. Bit poetic really, buildings coming and going while the film just keeps running. More on the Sheffield Gaumont's history.
Use for the real childhood cinema (Sheffield Gaumont, 1977) where Nigel first saw Star Wars. No notable exclusions, safe personal anecdote with a real embedded link. See also Star Wars for the film itself.
