Soapbox. Letterbox. Big fish. Little fish. Cardboard box.

Today I was chatting to a client who said her LinkedIn felt like Speaker’s Corner, she’s showing up, saying what she thinks, but it feels like everyone’s just walking past.
If you’ve not come across it, Speaker’s Corner is a little patch in Hyde Park where people have been standing up on soapboxes since the 1800s, sharing their views with anyone who’ll listen. Free speech, open air, no filter.
But LinkedIn isn’t like that.
On LinkedIn, your audience is there. And you can curate it.
They’re not just random passers-by. They’re the right people.
They’re reading. They’re watching.
You just can’t always see them.
But they’ll only start listening if you keep showing up.
Keep it short. Keep it relevant. Keep it personable.
Not preachy. Not shouty. Not once in a blue moon.
Even when it’s raining and no one is there.
You're not trying to win a debate. You're trying to build trust.
And if it ever feels like no one’s watching, remember:
Soapbox is for preaching.
Letterbox is for posting.
But sometimes? Big fish, little fish, cardboard box - building rhythm.
Keep showing up. People feel it, even if they don’t react right away.
